The first question should actually be, why should you choose floral design as your future career or why should you decide to go to floral school in the first place? Well, let’s put it like this. What would you like to do more, being creative and surrounded with colorful and vibrant flowers and knowing that your skills have made someone’s ceremony even more beautiful, or being stuck in a fast food restaurant, flipping burgers and without any chance of advancing further?
Okay, but why Michael Floral Design of all places? Because this is a place where you can really be creative and innovative and where you can quickly leaner almost everything that is required to be successful in this line of work.
Of course, since this is a very reputable floral design company, with more than 14 years in arranging flowers for different occasions, both happy and sad, not just everyone can start working here. Don’t worry, this is not some elitist company. What I am trying to say is that you will first have to go through a 4 month training course, during which you will learn everything you need about arraigning different flowers, how to cut them and tie them properly, you will also learn what flowers are good for what type of ceremony, how to properly handle them, how to package them so they don’t get damaged and so on.
Once this course is over, you will get a certificate from Michael Floral Design, which will be recognized in any floral design company throughout the United States, so you can work anywhere you want to. Of course, you can also start your career right here on Michael Floral Design. This will certainly give you a good kick-start and you will learn a bit more about proper selling of your arrangements, marketing and so on.
One word of warning, though. If you are a person who likes regular 8 to 5 jobs, with weekends and holidays off, than this is most likely not something for you. There are no fixed work hours. Sometimes, you won’t have anything to do for the entire week and will get pretty boring, just keeping the flowers in the shop in good condition and than bam! You suddenly receive a phone call for a wedding that will house 600 people and that they need decorations to be put the day after tomorrow. You can also forget about holidays, as this is the time when you will have the most to do as you are called by restaurants to make their New Year’s Eve more colorful, for example.
But, in truth this is a profession that you will really enjoy as it lets you be as creative and imaginative as you can be. Maybe there are jobs that are better payed than this, but if you want to start working somewhere and don’t want to be stuck in a regular job, than this is something that you will certainly enjoy doing.
